Miami – The Telemundo Internacional and Globo TV co-production, The Clone premiered in Japan on October 4, becoming the first telenovela to air in HD in Japan. The original story by Gloria Pérez airing on the 15:59 time slot on BS Japan, with an estimated coverage of 30 million households, will also be the longest telenovela to air in Japan, surpassing Ugly Betty with 169 episodes. Xavier Aristimuño, Telemundo Internacional’s VP of sales and business development in Asia said, “The launch of The Clone in Japan is historic in many ways and we are honored to be part of the television evolution in the region. Not only is this production the first telenovela shown in HD and the longest telenovela to air in Japan, but also it is the first time a Japanese terrestrial broadcaster has directly purchased a first-run telenovela and it’s the first time a novela has been launched before the show completes its first run in its country of origin.”
