Miami – MP & Silva (MPS), a leading international sports marketing and media company, announced that it has signed a deal with Brazilian media conglomerate, Globo, to acquire the rights in six Asia-Pacific territories, including Australia and Indonesia, for the Campeonato Brasileiro da Série A (also known as Brazilian Série A or Brasileirão). Under the agreement, MP & Silva will undertake the exclusive distribution of a package of rights for the 2011 season, including the rights for two live matches per round, as well as Globo’s ‘Brazilian Football Magic’ package and the ‘FootBrazil’ weekly magazine programme. The deal also includes options for remaining Brasileirão matches and auxiliary programming. The package of rights is further complemented by the inclusion of the traditional Campeonato Paulista (also known as the São Paulo State Championship or the Paulistão) which runs from January to May when the Brasileirão has its season break – ensuring that would-be broadcasters get access to top quality football all year long. The deal will cover all broadcast technologies and media platforms, including terrestrial free-to-air television (FTA), satellite and cable television, internet protocol television (IPTV), mobile television, mobile, and internet and broadband television.
