Los Angeles – Raleigh Studios has entered into a long term management agreement with Wuxi Studio in China to create a full service production and entertainment complex. The studio will serve as a hub for foreign productions seeking Chinese co-production opportunities as well as servicing the local Chinese domestic film and TV market.
The first phase, scheduled to be completed and open for production by August this year, consists of six soundstages that are being built within a large rehabilitated steel factory. Production offices, visual effects, post and editing facilities, as well as space for the development of digital media initiatives including digital film processing and distribution will also be included. A commercial area housing movie theaters, restaurants and night clubs will also be part of Phase One.
The second phase, which is expected to be completed by next summer, is planned to have five purpose built sound stages large enough to accommodate any major international production, a water tank, and a dual purpose Hollywood-style city backlot for filming as well as hosting a studio tour attraction.
