Custom Consoles, a leading producer of specialist furniture for the broadcast, process supervision and security markets, announces the completion of a large Module-R production control desk and MediaWall video display mount for a demonstration suite at the Polish sales and support facility of Grass Valley. Located in Krakow, the premises form one of Grass Valley’s four EMEA regional sites. Part of Black Dragon Capital, Grass Valley is headquartered in Montreal and has over 65 years of experience in media technology product development.
“Module-R desks and MediaWall displays are used by many television production companies and transmission networks around the world so were the logical choice for GV Poland’s newly upgraded demo suite,” says George Fry, Director, Training Events, Demonstrations & Facilities.
“Finished in grey with a marbled worktop and silver-anodised supports, the desk is fully equipped for use by existing and potential customers as well as the onsite sales and support team. Integrated Grass Valley products include a Maverik modular production control surface plus our latest generation camera shading controller.
“Operator positions are allocated to camera control, shading, the Maverik video production controller, video effects, audio mixing and related facilities. Floor to desktop storage units left and right of the desk provide space to house a combined 26U of auxiliary equipment, supplemented by 3U high 45 degree sloping-front equipment pods to the rear of four desk bays.”
“The new desk is a linear design, nearly 8 metres wide, facing four 65 inch monitor displays mounted in a horizontal array on the MediaWall,” adds Gary Fuller, Custom Consoles Sales Manager. “Monitor loudspeakers are attached to the upper left and right of displays. Supplementing the MediaWall are eight IT-related monitors on user-adjustable support arms attached directly to the rear of the desk. The suite can source from an adjacent studio and is equipped to demonstrate every aspect of the production process from product demo and user training perspectives.”
Custom Consoles Module-R desks offer a high level of freedom in size, configuration and facilities, and can be modified or expanded at any time during their working life. Auxiliary equipment pods can be specified at the time of purchase or added later. Elements such as desktops can be replaced easily if necessary for workflow-related or aesthetic reasons. The Module-R product series includes optional single, double or triple width base units, 15, 30, 45 or 90 degree angled corner units or curved desk sections to follow any radius. Control panels of practically any size and depth can be embedded into the desktop during initial configuration or subsequently. Space is provided for video, audio, comms and IT equipment, with easy front and rear access via removable front and rear cover panels. Power and signal cable ducts are integrated within every Module-R desk across each frame and through the supporting legs. Brush-strip-protected slots running the entire width of each Module-R desktop allow easy connection of cables to and from IT accessories such as computer keyboards and tracking tools. Predrilled monitor mounts are included as standard along the rear of every bay so customers can add, remove or relocate monitors to match changes in operating procedure. The inherent modularity of Module-R desks makes relocation relatively easy if or when a control suite is relocated.
MediaWall allows flat-screen video displays of practically any size to be mounted in almost any configuration. Height-adjustable horizontal beams and T-slot mounts ensure optimal sight lines. Individual or multiple frames can be used in self-supporting mode or coupled directly to the studio wall. Video display screens can be positioned so that the edges meet exactly to form a continuous horizontal display limited only by the monitor panel bezels. Monitor signal and power cables are fully concealed and can enter or leave the structure at any desired point.
