THEMA, a Canal+ Company has announced that ‘Justice: Misconduct’ a Globo hit distributed by THEMA in APAC region has won the ‘Grand Prize’ in International Competition, the top category at the Seoul International Drama Awards. The event has been taking place since 2005 and promotes cultural exchange with the best dramas in the world. The 2024 edition has established itself as the biggest and most competitive, with 346 entries from 48 countries. The award ceremony will take place in Seoul, on September 25th, and director Pedro Peregrino and producer Luciana Monteiro will be at the event to receive the award.
As of January 2024, THEMA is handling Globo’s titles distribution in Asia-Pacific, bringing its success stories to new audiences.
By Manuela Dias (‘A Mother’s Love’), with artistic direction by Gustavo Fernández (‘Pantanal’). ‘Justice: Misconduct’ follows four characters who end up in prison and, seven years later, leave jail and need to resume their lives in a search of justice that goes beyond logic and judicial processes. The production is consolidated as an anthology series, with the same structure and format as ‘Justice: Life is not fair’, which was nominated for an International Emmy for Best Actress with Adriana Esteves and Best Dramatic Series, but with new characters. ‘Justice: Life is not fair’ has already been licensed for more than 50 countries.
The cast of ‘Justice: Misconduct’ includes names such as Paolla Oliveira (‘Edge of Desire’), Juan Paiva (‘Rebirth’), Murilo Benício (‘Pantanal’), Marco Ricca (‘Orphans of a Nation’), Belize Pombal (‘Rebirth’), Nanda Costa (‘A Mother’s Love’) and Alice Wegmann (‘Rensga Hits’), among others.
Globo productions have already been awarded in other editions of the Seoul Drama Awards. In 2020, ‘Orphans of a Nation’ won the Grand Prize and in 2011 ‘Passione’ won the Silver Bird Prize. In 2007, ‘Little Missy’ was one of the finalists.
