OUTtv greenlights six new original series

September 19, 2024 by TVA Editor

OUTtv, the world’s leading LGBTQ+ streaming service, has commissioned a raft of new series including heartfelt and illuminating docuseries Get Hooked and Stripped Down, and two dynamic scripted comedy series: Off Shoot and Settle Down!. In addition, OUTtv has commissioned mockumentary Drag House Rules as well as Wish You Were Queer, a multi-format variety series.

Landing on OUTtv in Spring 2025 is the brand-new docuseries Get Hooked (7 x 30’), a co-commission with Accessible Media Inc. (AMI). This isn’t your dad’s fishing show – Get Hooked is a fresh take on how members of the queer, Black, Indigenous and disability communities turn the mental health benefits of fishing into pure joy. Produced by Heidi Lynch of Bone Vault Inc. (Avocado Toast, Finding Green), the series will feature the British disability advocate and comedian Rosie Jones along with other diverse nature lovers. Partners for the series include the Bell Fund, Ontario Creates, and CAMH.

Also on OUTtv’s slate of unscripted programming is Stripped Down (6 x 30’), a docuseries produced by Producer Entertainment Group that follows the dancers at gay strip club Johnson’s in Wilton Manors, Florida. A relatively quiet town that has been called the second gayest city in America, Wilton Manors’ club hosts dancers that must navigate their personal lives alongside their work. The series is created and directed by Matt Cullen and will be available on OUTtv next year.

Joining OUTtv’s scripted slate this Autumn is comedy series Off Shoot (6 x 30’), produced by Producer Entertainment Group. The series follows Jack, a photographer, and his assistant as they navigate wild and unpredictable photo sessions with different queens, celebrities, porn stars, and models. Also from Producer Entertainment Group is a scripted mockumentary that pays homage to early 2000’s reality television, Drag House Rules (6 x 30’), which will air next year. Drag icons such as Jujubee, Manila Luzon, Silky Nutmeg Ganache, and more will participate in a competition reality show with unhinged challenges, disastrous living conditions, and a host whose tomfoolery pushes them to the brink.

Scripted comedy series Settle Down! has also been commissioned by OUTtv. The 6 x 20’ series follows the life of Mason, a matchmaker with an unmatched success rate in pairing queer individuals – yet, his own romantic life remains a chaotic mess. Settle Down! is produced by Border2Border Entertainment and will join OUTtv’s slate in Winter 2025.

Rounding out OUTtv’s new programming slate is Wish You Were Queer (6 x 30’) a multi-format variety series coming to OUTtv next year that focuses on Michael Henry and Tim Murray as they perform standup comedy on the road in North America. The series is produced by D’Marie Productions and Producer Entertainment Group, with executive producers Trixie Mattel and David Silver.

Philip Webb, COO of OUTtv, said: “Our slate of upcoming original commissions ranges from bold and hilarious comedies, to warm and honest documentaries – programming both for and by queer people that is quintessentially OUTtv and gives our audiences more of what they want to see. These latest additions to our diverse global offering represent and celebrate each corner of the community, and it’s great to continue working alongside long-standing production partners to bring these authentic stories to life.”
