Eccho Rights has signed a deal that will see Enlight Media in Beijing taking forward a local version of the hit entertainment reality show Cover Me Canada.
Cover Me originated in Canada where it was produced by 11 Television and broadcast on CBC. The show pits undiscovered bands against each other in a quest to find the next big music act. In each show the bands have to perform their own interpretations of a local chart-topping artist in a bid to avoid elimination.
Gary Pudney, Head of Asia Pacific at Eccho Rights, said about the deal, “Cover Me Canada is a great take on the reality singing format. This kind of show is performing well in China right now and it is great news that a first rate producer with experience of these kinds of formats will be taking the show forward.”
Chloe Yang, director of marketing at Enlight Media says, “Cover Me Canada is the perfect show for Chinese audiences and it is already generating a lot of interest with local advertisers and broadcasters. We are sure the show will be a huge success here in China.”
Enlight Media is the producer behind some of the biggest reality shows on Chinese television including X Factor China, China’s Got Talent and Clash of the Choirs.
