Singapore – StarHub TV has announced the combined launch of five new HD channels and 11 new TV Anywhere channels on July 19, 2013.
This brings Singapore’s largest collection of HD pay-TV channels to 43 channels in total. In addition, through TV Anywhere, StarHub TV customers can view up to 65 of their favourite channels on their smart devices anytime, anywhere.
“As Singapore’s largest pay-TV operator, we constantly seek to not just provide amazing content to our customers, but to give them additional avenues such as HD and multiscreen options to enjoy the content. This July, we are especially pleased to launch a multitude of channels from household names such as A+E Networks, BBC, CNN, Discovery Networks and WarnerTV,” said Ms Lee Soo Hui, Head of Media Business Unit, StarHub.
She added, “Since the launch of TV Anywhere just over a year ago, we have increased the number of channels on the platform by five times. Similarly, we have boosted the number of HD channels by over 60 percent in the past year alone. We will continue to work with content providers to enhance the viewing experience for our customers.”
Spanning the Lifestyle, Education, Entertainment and World News genres, the five HD channels are Crime & Investigation Network HD, The Biography Channel HD, WarnerTV HD, BBC World News HD and CNN HD. The channels are HD simulcasts of their respective SD channels. In addition, there will be a free preview of BBC World News HD and CNN HD for World News Basic Group subscribers from launch to September 30, 2013.
The 11 TV Anywhere channels cover the Kids, Lifestyle, Education, Entertainment and World News genres and include CBeebies, BBC Knowledge, Discovery Home & Health, Discovery Turbo, BBC Lifestyle, Crime & Investigation Network HD, The Biography Channel HD, BBC Entertainment, CNN Headlines, BBC World News HD and CNN HD.
New and existing StarHub TV HD Upsize subscribers will be able to view the new HD channels at no additional charge, depending on their Basic Groups and Basic Upsize subscription.
TV Anywhere is a multiscreen service which is available to all StarHub TV customers at no additional cost. The service allows viewers to watch the channels from their StarHub TV subscription plan on their laptops and tablets. Samsung Smart TV users can also access the service via the TV Anywhere Samsung Smart TV app. Users have to log-in using their HubID.
