StarHub is the first provider in Singapore to serve up front-row seats to all four Grand Slam tournaments. Leveraging an extended and successful partnership with beIN, customers with a Sports+ subscription will be able to feast on a buffet of ‘live’ tennis action on beIN SPORTS 2 (Channel 211), with the Australian Open from 17 to 30 January, and the French Open (also known as ‘Roland-Garros’) from 16 May to 5 June. StarHub will also be airing Wimbledon from 27 June to 10 July, and capping off the series of Grand Slams with the US Open from 29 August to 11 September, via SPOTV (Channel 205).
From next Monday, the 10th edition of the Australian Open will be available for streaming on TVs and phones through the StarHub TV+ app. With StarHub’s high-definition event coverage, Sports+ customers will be transported in real-time to the iconic Rod Laver and Margaret Court Arenas in Melbourne Park, Australia, where they can catch tennis greats face off against each other – including world number one Novak Djokovic, 20-time Grand Slam title winner Rafael Nadal, reigning Olympic gold medallist Alexander Zverev, women’s singles defending champion Naomi Osaka, and plucky up-and-comer Emma Raducanu.
“Sporting events are near and dear to our customers’ hearts. We are delighted to have deepened our partnership with beIN so that sports fans can continue savouring the full suite of Grand Slams on StarHub, starting with the Australian Open next week,” said Andrew Tan, Head of Content, StarHub. “Since last year, we have been hard at work with our content partners, to ameliorate the regional shuttering of the Fox Sports channels. We are thrilled that our efforts have borne fruit for our customers; with UFC and F1 re-joining our line-up last year, as well as the Australian and French Opens today. A big thank-you to our customers for being so patient with us as we bring their favourite sports properties back home.”
The deluge of tennis content on StarHub does not end here. Putting customers at the heart, StarHub’s coverage of the ATP Tour promises to be bigger and better. Starting this year, Sports+ customers will enjoy 30 ‘live’ ATP 250 events, up from 19 previously, without paying a single cent more. Next up – the Cordoba Open in Argentina from 31 January to 5 February, via beIN SPORTS 2 on StarHub, the undisputed home of tennis.
Badminton frenzy with Singapore’s first world champion
Closer to home, sports fans can witness newly-crowned badminton world champion Loh Kean Yew and other national shuttlers in action at the HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500: YONEX-SUNRISE India Open 2022, ‘live’ on StarHub. From 14 to 16 January, all Sports+ customers can stream the quarter-final, semi-final and final matches of the prestigious tournament either on SPOTV or via the StarHub TV+ app. At no extra cost, they will be able to tune in to ‘live’ coverage beamed straight from the K.D Jadhav Indoor Hall at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, New Delhi, India, to the screens of their choice – be it TVs, laptops or mobile devices.
The 11th edition of the BWF India Open returns after a two-year break, with players competing in five different categories. With that, all eyes will be on Loh Kean Yew in men’s singles, as he looks to continue his winning streak following a stunning showing at the BWF World Championships 2021. Other Singapore athletes include Yeo Jia Min in women’s singles, Terry Hee and Loh Kean Hean in men’s doubles, as well as Terry Hee and Tan Wei Han in mixed doubles.
