CNBC’s Bernard Lo named Best News Anchor at ATA

Singapore – CNBC received five nominations and took home the award for Best News Anchor at the 18th Asian Television Awards (ATA) last night: Bernard Lo won the Best News Anchor award for The Call. 

 “I am proud that CNBC and Bernie have been recognized in this extremely competitive category. He is an icon of the broadcast industry and this award speaks volumes about his excellence in delivering world-class programming to our viewers every single day,” said John Casey, CNBC’s Senior Vice President of International News and Programming. “Having five nominations and receiving this award is an honor for CNBC.” 

   

Bernie Lo

A 20-year veteran of Asia-Pacific regional television, Bernie Lo has interviewed key political figures including Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and Hong Kong Chief Executive Donald Tsang, as well as top business leaders Richard Branson, Larry Ellison and Bill Gates. 

Based out of CNBC’s Hong Kong studio, Bernie is a pillar of CNBC’s business day programming including the flagship programme Squawk Box. He also anchors The Call, a one-hour programme that empowers viewers to make the right call for their business, their market and their investment.

Bernard has also received received awards in other categories including Best Current Affairs Presenter in 2000 and 2011. 

 The other CNBC nominations included: Martin Soong for Best News Anchor- Highly Commended (the only 6-time winner in the Award’s history – ’96, ’98 ’07, ’08, ’09, ’10), Christine Tan for Best Current Affairs Presenter- Highly Commended (Previous winner in ’08), Eunice Yoon for Best Current Affairs Presenter- Highly Commended, and Squawk Box Asia for Best News Programme (Highly Commended in ’12).
