Australians in Film (AiF) names prestigious lineup of leading and influential executives to its board

Australians in Film (AiF), the non-profit organisation that develops, connects and promotes Australian screen talent and stories around the world, will boost its capacity and influence with the announcement of several new, high profile Board members, each of them an Australian who has reached the very top of the entertainment industry and is leading the charge for new Australian stories and voices on screens around the world.

The new AIF Board members are Toby Borg, Head of the Global Client Strategy division at CAA, director Unjoo Moon, whose feature film I Am Woman world premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and has been released to acclaim in major territories around the world throughout 2020, Penny Smallacombe, Head of Indigenous, Screen Australia, Bec Smith, who is a Partner at leading artist agency UTA representing some of the industry’s most acclaimed directors and screenwriters and Richard Weinberg, Chief Executive Officer of the Terrace Tower Group, and a partner in Material Pictures, Iconic Images, 8 Angel (part of the 8VC group) and KarlinBerg Entertainment.

They join AiF Chair Simonne Overend, EQ Media’s Vice President of Scripted Television for the US, and continuing Board members Deputy Chair, Producer Emma Cooper, (Penguin Bloom, which is currently playing in cinemas in Australia and Netflix worldwide), Rob Marsala, talent manager at the prestigious Atlas Artists, Eden Gaha, CEO of content production company Mother Media Group, and Karen Robson, Partner in the US law firm of Pryor Cashman LLP.

The AiF Board will navigate the organization to the next stage in its commitment to offering exclusive and tailored strategic professional development opportunities for its members and industry partners.

“Over the past few years, AiF has a proven and effective track record in creating career-changing pathways for Australian screen talent in Hollywood and the international screen industry, and these exceptional new board members will add their own unique experience and industry contacts to AiF’s mission,” Simone Overend said.
