Toronto, Canada — Peacock Alley has announced the launch of its new faux reality series Unusually Thicke (14 x 30’) starring television icon, talk show host and comedic best-selling author Alan Thicke (Growing Pains, How I Met Your Mother), one of Hollywood’s most famous dads on- and off-screen. The original series is produced by Peacock Alley for Shaw’s Slice in Canada and TVGN, a Lionsgate/CBS co-venture in the U.S. and distributed internationally by Peacock Alley.
Unusually Thicke puts the spotlight on a real-life modern family — Alan, his beautiful, spicy and much-younger wife Tanya, and his dry witted, often opinionated 16-year-old son Carter — in a series that follows the fun and humour that happens in their everyday lives.
Dozens of special appearances from Alan’s circle of celebrity friends and family are featured throughout the season, including Minnie Driver, David Hasselhoff, Bob Saget, Wayne Gretzky, John Stamos, Bill Maher, and his own pop star prodigy and Grammy Award winner, Robin Thicke.
“The Thickes are a truly lovable, wonderfully dynamic family, and Unusually Thicke’s unique celebrity driven sitcom/reality hybrid format will have tremendous appeal for international audiences,” said Craig McGillivray, VP Distribution, Peacock Alley Entertainment.
“Unusually Thicke combines my two favorite things: family… and laughing at my family,” remarked Alan Thicke. “This series is my foray into the ‘reality-ish’ television world where viewers will meet the loveable, unpredictable, and often challenging people who live with the real Jason Seaver. We take our relatable real-life stories and blow them up to amuse and amaze, tossing in a handful of celebrity friends along the way. Please come aboard and enjoy the ride!”
