STUDIOCANAL, Europe’s leader in production, distribution and international sales of TV series and feature films, has signed a significant new drama deal with Hong Kong’s PCCW.
Representing the first collaboration between Hong Kong-based media group PCCW and STUDIOCANAL, the acquisition will see three premium English-language dramas from RED Production Company – a STUDIOCANAL company – making their debut on ViuTVsix next year.
The package includes four-part character-led thriller TRUST ME, produced for BBC One and starring Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who, Broadchurch). Created and written by Danny Brocklehurst and produced for BBC One, three-part drama Come Home also heads to Hong Kong, alongside Harlan Coben’s The Five, a gripping ten-part original thriller created by the bestselling author for the UK’s Sky 1.
Written by Dan Sefton (Mr Selfridge, The Five) and now in pre-production on a second season, Trust Me tells thestory of a skilled nurse Cath (Whittaker) who loses her job by whistleblowing. Forced to take drastic measures to provide for her daughter she steals her best friend’s identity as a senior doctor and starts a new life. Burying herself deeper into the imposter persona, she realises she really could get everything she ever wanted – the job, the man, the dream – but with her old life threatening to destroy her fragile creation, how far will she go to protect it?
Come Home, starring Christopher Eccleston and Paula Malcomson, centres on the story of a mother who leaves her husband and three children. Greg (Eccleston) and Marie (Malcomson) have been married for nineteen years, when, seemingly out of the blue, Marie walks out on him and her three children. How can two people that loved each other become so opposed, and can a child learn to forgive their mother for leaving them? And why would Marie make such a shocking and significant decision to change their lives and divide their loyalties forever?

The screenplay is by BAFTA and Emmy Award®-winning writer Danny Brocklehurst and director is Mark Tonderai.
