Tee and Mo are back on CBeebies with two brand new animated music videos, available from 12th February 2018 on BBC iPlayer and premiered on the CBeebies Channel on Valentine’s Day, 14th February 2018. As with the hugely popular Tee and Mo Go to Sleep song, the two love songs are sung by BBC Radio 6 Music DJ Lauren Laverne.
Aimed at a dual audience, Tee and Mo focuses on the bond between young children and their parents/caregivers, and how they can work together to resolve the challenges of everyday life via imaginative play and creative problem solving. The two new animated songs focus specifically on the love Tee and Mo have for one another, showcasing two unique and heartfelt perspectives – Tee’s love for his mum, Mo and hers for her first-born son, Tee.
Only One Mum is Tee’s high energy, musical number to his mum. From celebrating Mo making sandwiches to finding his shoes – Tee leads Mo around their jungle home, serenading comically and letting their jungle world know he would ‘always choose’ Mo.
Bag Full of Love is a heartfelt, acoustic folk song of a mother’s love for her child. Sung through nostalgic recollection of their life together, and via the metaphor of her ever-present handbag, Mo takes us through the mundane and the special items, only she knows brighten Tee’s day.
The songs have been written by Plug-in Media’s Creative Director Dominic Minns, with composers, Ellie Wyatt and Joss Peach. As well as Lauren Laverne, they feature actor and folk singer, Johnny Flynn. The songs have been animated by the in-house team at Plug-in Media’s studio in Brighton. As well as being shown on iPlayer, CBeebies Channel and YouTube, the songs will also be available as MP3s on Apple Music.
Tee and Mo originally launched as 10 games on CBeebies in 2013 and the brand’s proven popularity has led the channel to commission six animated songs to date. Of the original songs, Come on Get Up was BAFTA nominated in 2016; Are We Ready to Go? was the winner of the 2016 Prix Jeunesse short form prize; and the 4-song playlist has seen over 6 million views on CBeebies YouTube. The two new songs will serve as a prelude to the new 50 x 7minute TV series launching on CBeebies this Mother’s Day, 11th March 2018. An episode from the TV series has already been selected for screening as part of this year’s prestigious Prix Jeunesse award. Zodiak Kids owns the international distribution rights to Tee and Mo and will be showcasing the property at Kidscreen Summit next week.
