ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) has signed a deal with Swedish broadcaster SVT for a tranche of programmes, including forthcoming drama Vanity Fair, a new adaptation of William Makepeace Thackeray’s literary classic.
The seven-part drama, produced by Mammoth Screen with Amazon Studios, was commissioned by ITV in the UK and is due to air later this year. Set against the backdrop of the Napoleonic Wars, Vanity Fair follows Becky Sharp (Olivia Cooke) as she attempts to claw her way out of poverty and scale the heights of English Society.
Other upcoming dramas included in the deal, which totals over 80 hours of programming, are Tall Story Pictures’ Trauma, a tense three-part thriller starring Adrian Lester and John Simm, Hatton Garden, from Bafta award-winning writer Jeff Pope and Age Before Beauty, a contemporary drama from Mainstreet Pictures.
Mammoth’s Next of Kin and Tall Story’s Bancroft – both of which launched at last year’s MIPCOM – are also included, with returning series’ Poldarkand Endeavour (Mammoth), and Vera and Shetland (Silverprint Pictures) completing the line-up.
The deal was brokered on behalf of ITVS GE by Senior Sales Manager, Emily Thompson, and for SVT by Stephen Mowbray, Head of SVT International – Acquisitions and Sales.
