The series stars Lars Ranthe (‘The Reunion 2: The Funeral’; ‘Badehotellet’) and Lene Maria Christensen (‘The Legacy’; ‘Terribly Happy’) as Erik and Nina, a couple leading a quiet family life in the Copenhagen suburbs while trying to hide their dramatic past as Denmark’s most notorious con artists. But it’s only a matter of time before Erik and Nina once again have to balance parent-teacher meetings, lunch boxes and mortgage payments with pulling off the biggest swindle of them all.
Pro’s and Con’s (Danish title: ‘Friheden’) is created and written by the prize-winning duo Thor Bjørn Krebs (‘Europamestrene’) and Mikkel Serup (‘The Reunion 2: The Funeral’). SAM Productions’ Stine Meldgaard (‘Something’s Rockin’’; ‘Swinger’) and Morten Kjems Hytten Juhl (‘Below the Surface’; ‘The Giant’) will produce, with Meta Louise Foldager Sørensen (‘Below the Surface’; the Oscar-nominated ‘A Royal Affair’) as executive producer. The production is supported by Danish Film Institutes’ Public Service Fund and Studiocanal handles international distribution.
Jakob Mejlhede, MTG EVP and Head of Programming and Content Development: “Danish audiences love great drama – and Erik and Nina’s efforts to balance domestic life with one final grand con will have viewers everywhere hooked from the very first episode. Our objective is to be the Nordic region’s leading producer of original drama, and our slate of original series now covers unique storytelling from Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and the US.”
MTG has over 50 original scripted drama projects in the pipeline, and recent original premieres include the drama ‘Alex’; geopolitical thriller ‘Occupied’; Nordic noir ‘Hassel’; and kids series ‘Peppy Pals’. MTG has recently commissioned international crime comedy drama ‘Straight Forward’; political thrillers ‘Conspiracy of Silence’ and ‘Embassy Down’; drama ‘The Lawyer’; the second season of LA based comedy drama ‘Swedish Dicks’; and its first Icelandic original ‘Stella Blómkvist’.
MTG’s drama series ’Veni Vidi Vici’ will premiere on premium US streaming service Hulu in December 2017. Season one of ‘Swedish Dicks’ is airing on Pop TV in the US, while ‘Black Lake’ has been picked up by BBC Four and AMC Networks-backed Shudder. MTG’s first original film, ‘Superswede’ was recently acquired for global distribution by IM Global Television.
