Singapore – The best in TVB’s programming were honoured at the annual StarHub TVB Awards held at Marina Bay Sands. A total of 17 awards were presented, with 13 opened to public voting. In addition to the crowd gathered at the awards venue, the awards presentation was also witnessed by home viewers through a ‘live’ telecast on StarHub TV’s self-packaged channel, E City (Channels 111 and 825).
The biggest winner of this year’s StarHub TVB Awards was the modern thriller serial Black Heart White Soul which took home an impressive four trophies. These included My Favourite TVB Drama and My Favourite TVB Male and Female TV Characters, bagged respectively by Roger Kwok and Kristal Tin. For their electrifying onscreen chemistry in Black Heart White Soul, Kwok and Tin also added a fourth award for the drama with My Favourite TVB On-Screen Couple. Black Heart White Soul, an intense drama on how a robbery case interweaved the fate of three strangers, narrowly edged out crowd favourites Brother’s Keeper, a drama that chronicled the fates of two brothers and crime thriller Line Walker.
Line Walker, which scored a hat-trick of wins, saw well-loved TVB actress Charmaine Sheh clinch the highly-coveted My Favourite TVB Actress and My Favourite TVB Female TV Character awards for her role as an undercover agent. The hit drama also won praise from the local media for its well-written, gripping script, and took home the trophy for Singapore Media’s Favourite TVB Drama.
Actors Ruco Chan and Edwin Siu both walked away with My Favourite TVB Male TV Character accolades for their roles as ill-fated brothers in Brother’s Keeper. For the same role, Chan also clinched the much coveted My Favourite TVB Actor award, strengthening his position in TVB’s league of leading men.
New award categories – My Favourite TVB Supporting Actor and My Favourite TVB Supporting Actress were won by the boyish hunk Him Law and gorgeous Sharon Chan. These were for their respective roles in The Hippocractic Crush II, a story which followed the lives of medical personnel, and The Ultimate Addiction, a fast-paced drama centred on a group of individuals working in Hong Kong’s financial world and stock market. Newcomer Louis Cheung, who proved his potential in dramas such as a “baddie” in Black Heart White Soul, garnered a well-deserved win in Best New TVB Artiste award.
Beating intense competition such as Three Amigos Bon Voyage, Dinner Confidential, Lady First Singapore – Season 2, Walk The Talk, Talk The Talk emerged as the winner for My Favourite TVB Variety/Infotainment Programme. Walk The Talk, Talk The Talk comperes Nancy Sit and Wong Cho Lam also jointly snagged the My Favourite TVB Variety Show Host award.
Hosted by Carol Cheng and Derek Li, the StarHub TVB Awards 2014 featured performances by singer-dancer Alex To and veteran performer Nancy Sit. To sang a sexy rendition of ‘Kiss’ to the delight of screaming fans in the theatre while Sit, who was dressed in a traditional Nyonya outfit, performed “We are Singapore” with Wong Cho Lam and a group of students from Wellington Primary.
The StarHub TVB Awards 2014 kicked off with the red carpet special where hundreds of audibly ecstatic fans waited to catch a glimpse of their favourite TVB artistes decked out in their finest gala outfits. Stealing the limelight was Linda Chung, in a multi-coloured long dress, whom fans voted via StarHub TV Buddy as the winner of the best dressed Red Carpet Star. Local celebrities such as Michelle Chia, Darren Lim and Jesseca Liu also strode down and struck poses on the red carpet, to the delight of their fans.

The StarHub TVB Awards 2014 was proudly presented by Jean Yip, a returning sponsor from last year. For the fourth year, StarHub partnered Marina Bay Sands as Official Venue. Main Sponsors of the event were Country Garden and Sigma, and Mitsubishi Electric and OKOK co-sponsored. The Official Mobility Partner was Hertz. As a reward to StarHub TV customers, one lucky winner walked away with the grand prize of a luxurious freehold Country Garden Danga Bay Condominium in Johor Bahru worth RM500,000.
