Britain’s Wildest Weather 2014
Thomas Viner, Executive Producer, Arrow Media, said, “2014 has seen some of the wildest, weirdest weather this country has ever seen, from hurricanes and tornados in Britain, to sink holes, sea foam and some of the biggest waves ever recorded battering our shores. These are the stories of the people who lived through it, told through interviews and their own amazing, unseen footage. As we live their stories, and understand how this year of wild weather came to happen, the message is that things are only going to worse. With our powerful first person story-telling, and feel for delivering real content in an accessible, popular style, this is a must-see annual report on our ever wilder weather.”
From the New Years storms that destroyed the coastline and vast swathes of Aberystwyth’s countryside, to sinkholes swallowing up homes and the West Coast Mainline falling into the sea in Devon, Britain’s Wildest Weather 2014 shows just how extreme the UK’s weather can be. As well as revealing the damage and devastation caused, the 90-minute special explores why our weather seems to be getting worse; talking to experts in meteorology and climate science and looking at global weather systems.
The executive producer is Thomas Viner for Arrow Media, directed by Nic Young. This series was commissioned by Channel 4 by Sara Ramsden.
