Taiwan Teams Up with Singapore and South Korea to Take Film and TV Global

November 7, 2024 by TVA Editor

To fuel global collaboration in Taiwan’s film and TV industry, the Taiwan Creative Content Agency(TAICCA)has just signed exciting new partnerships with Mediacorp from Singapore, and Gyeonggi Content Agency (GCA) from South Korea. These collaborations aim to boost Taiwan’s impact on the international stage with a fresh wave of innovative, cross-border projects.

Partnering with Mediacorp to Dive into the Southeast Asian Market

TAICCA and Mediacorp have launched a strategic partnership to bring Taiwan and Singapore’s film and TV industries closer than ever, with a bold vision for the Southeast Asian market. This collaboration will foster professional exchange, unleash creative content from both regions, and support training programs to raise the bar on quality and production.

Homme Tsai, Chairperson of TAICCA, stated “While Taiwan and Singapore share many similarities, at the same time we are able to share our respective strengths in areas such as creative talent and business acumen. TAICCA is pleased to collaborate with Mediacorp once again, and we look forward to taking our partnership to the next level as we embark on more joint projects together.

Virginia LIM, Chief Content Officer of Mediacorp, said, “This strengthened collaboration with TAICCA allows us to focus on the development of screenwriting and production by leveraging the diverse talents of both Singapore and Taiwan. This partnership also facilitates the exchange of knowledge and skills, enriching our creative endeavors. We look forward to advancing our collaboration and spearheading joint projects that will enhance the visibility of Singaporean and Taiwanese productions on the global stage, ultimately contributing to a more vibrant and interconnected creative industry.”

As Singapore’s biggest media company, Mediacorp has a solid track record of global partnerships. Recent projects with Taiwan include All Is Well (2019) with Taiwan Television, Trinity of Shadows (2022) with CATCHPLAY+ and HBO, and In the Name of Love (2023), an original Mandarin series developed with TAICCA.

Pushing Boundaries with GCA for Industry Innovation

In an exciting step for industry growth, TAICCA and South Korea’s GCA are teaming up to support mutual participation in key events, and will share resources to achieve their goals together. With plans for joint market projects, networking, and co-productions, this partnership is set to spark fresh energy in Taiwan and South Korea’s cultural industries.

Tark Yong Seok, President of GCA stated  “I have recently been to many events overseas and often see the TAICCA logo everywhere. We look forward to working with a powerful government organization like TAICCA.”

GCA, a leader in gaming, animation, comics, film, and digital content, is all about nurturing talent and advancing the industry. Through events like PlayX4, one of Korea’s biggest gaming expos, and the B.I.G Forum, GCA drives global competitiveness and innovation, empowering creators and startups and energizing the Asia-Pacific content scene.

Homme TSAI stated on stage, “TAICCA will continue to establish collaborative relationships with key international organizations and become a bridge to enhance the global market share for Taiwanese talent and products, creating new opportunities for international co-productions.”
