Munich – With a lineup of four new shows, among them the world premieres of the Swedish thriller series Hassel and the German coming-of-age drama Five2Twelve, Beta Film enters the renowned French TV Festival Série Series in Fontainebleau.
Presented by lead Ola Rapace (“Skyfall – 007”, “Wallander”) and director Amir Chamdin (“God Willing”), Hassel centers around a street-smart detective, leading an organized crime task force in Stockholm. When Roland Hassel’s close mentor is brutally murdered, he swears to avenge his death. Hassel is produced by Nice Drama/Stefan Baron, who previously delivered international bestsellers such as Midnight Sun, and will debut on the Swedish premium SVOD-platform Viaplay in fall. Beta Film premieres the series at MIPCOM in Cannes.
After the tremendous success of the Norwegian teenager series Shame, Beta Film presents a new extraordinary coming-of-age show with high international potential as a world premiere in Fontainebleau. Clock stands at Five2Twelve(24×25’) for five teenage boys, who each got in serious trouble with the police. Courts gave them one last chance: get with the programme, a boot camp in the Bavarian Alps, or go to juvie. Producer Markus and Tillmann Roth (TV60) and director Niklas Weise casted teens as real as it gets, having lived through rough times themselves.
Cross Productions, Beta and RAI present a first show reel of Italian romantic comedy seriesSirens (WT), where the sea and the land are involved in the oldest battle ever: male versus female. The twelve hour series with Luca Argentero, Maria Pia Calzone (“Gomorrah”) and Ornella Muti (“Flash Gordon”) is shot at marvellous Amalfi coast in Southern Italy and is currently in post-production.
Academy Award nominated German director Oliver Hirschbiegel (“Downfall”) and multiple awarded British writer Paula Milne (“The Politician’s Wife”, “The Virgin Queen”) are heading to Fontainebleau with the East-Western drama The Same Sky, sold in more than 100 territories worldwide, among them all European territories and the US.
