Asia-Pacific, Malaysia – Korea’s leading media & entertainment conglomerate, CJ E&M, is proud to announce the landing of tvN Movies, world’s first and only Korean blockbuster movie channel in Malaysia, commencing in April 2017 via HyppTV channel and also available on HyppTV Everywhere mobile app. HyppTV is Telekom Malaysia Berhad’s (TM) award-winning IPTV service. This strategic move is supported by the successful launch of tvN Movies in Singapore as well. The expansion is expected to cover more Southeast Asia territories by the end of 2017.
tvN Movies strives to introduce Korean movies to the overseas audience by delivering top grossing, all-time favourite, and award-winning Korean films. Upon the launch in Malaysia, tvN Movies brings numerous mega-hit titles to the market, including the zombie-themed horror-thriller, Train to Busan, starring mega-star Gong Yoo; crime movie, A Violent Prosecutor, starring award-winning best actors Hwang Jung-min & Gang Dong-won; political crime thriller, Inside Men, starring international movie star Lee Byung-hun and Jo Seung-Woo, and war drama film, Operation Chromite, starring award-winning best actors Lee Jung-jae and Liam Neeson. More smash hits are expected to premiere soon on tvN Moves, including The Age of Shadows, an action thriller film and South Korea’s Oscar contender for “Best Foreign Language Film” starring Gong Yoo & Song Kang-ho, and Master, a top-grossing crime-action film starring Lee Byung-hun, Gang Dong-won and Kim Woo-bin.
To make it more interesting, tvN Movies is bringing over 20 first-run Korean movies in the first year premiering exclusively in Malaysia. tvN Movies’ signature time blocks will immerse audiences in action-packed, emotion-filled and drama-wrapped films. All the movies will be paired with English, Simplified Chinese, as well as Bahasa Malaysia, subtitles to fit its multi-racial audiences.
