108 Media announces its latest slate of international acquisitions, to be represented via its 108 Madcap label. The exponential growth of this speciality arm reflects 108 Media’s commitment to offering a genuinely diverse portfolio of universal content. The deals were headed up by new Acquisitions Executive Larry Bain, who joins the company to develop and expand the label’s current library of exciting and diverse genre films. All titles acquired offer content with the purpose of defying convention and focus on delivering nail-biting storytelling and stimulating visuals, with the aim of striking a chord with global viewers.
New to the label includes Cash Only an American-Albanian crime thriller which follows a cash-strapped landlord who steals some money only to find his troubles spiralling rapidly out of control. Produced in 2015, this full-length feature film has had critical acclaim and was selected as a New York Times Critic Pick. Parasites starring Robert Miano is a horror-action thriller. Based around a group of privileged friends that find themselves lost and then are captured by an angry and violent homeless gang. The group must fight to even survive the night.
Other new additions include; The Triangle, the story of four filmmakers take their cameras into the Montana wilderness to document the mysterious inner workings of a young community with a giant secret. This mystery-horror film was released in North America in June and is intended for worldwide distribution for the first time at AFM.
Produced in 2012, Monsters in the Woods chronicles a micro-budget movie crew trekking into the wilderness to shoot horror scenes for their unsellable indie-drama. They soon find themselves in the midst of their real horror movie, as they are hunted by a large group of creatures.
Also represented by 108 Madcap is Lazar a 2015 Macedonian language crime thriller which tells the tale and dangers of smuggling illegal products into Europe. Final additions to the slate include; Cut to the Chase, produced in 2016, in which an ex-con sets out in search of his kidnapped sister through the criminal underbelly of Shreveport, Louisiana; and 2016 film Valley of Ditches which follows a girl left for dead in an open grave, as she struggles to keep both her life and her sanity.
