Singapore – MAKE Productions, the Singapore and London based independent film and television company, won five awards at the 2015 New York Festivals International Television & Film Awards.
The Sinking of the Sewol, a documentary directed by Hein Seok, won a Gold for Best News Documentary/Special, a Silver for Human Concerns, and two Bronze medals for Best Direction and Best Investigative Report. The film explored the aftermath of the tragic sinking of a South Korean ferry, “The Sewol” in 2014, that led to the deaths of hundreds of passengers, the majority of whom were teenage children on a school trip.
Undercover Asia – Freedom or Death, a documentary directed by Sarah Macdonald, won a Silver award for National/International Affairs. It investigated Australia’s policy of imprisoning asylum seekers on the Pacific Island of Nauru.
