London – BBC World, the BBC’s commercial 24 hour news and information channel, has signed a distribution deal with TU Media, Korea’s first Satellite Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (S-DMB) provider TU Mediain Korea.
BBC World’s block on TU Media includes live andrecorde : Asia Business Report, World Business Reportand Click Nic van Zwanenberg, BBC World’s regional director, distribution and business development Asia says: “BBC World (is) the first international news channel available to TU Media’s subscribers. The partnership also allows us t be seen on some ofthe most advanced technology in the world and we are proud to be involved with such an innovative platform.”
South Korean company TU Media, the subsidiary of mobile telephony service provider SK Telecom, launched in May 2005 and has around 1 million subscribers. It currently offers 15 video channels incorporating drama, sports,games, news music and movies and 19 audio channels.
