Singapore: ANYTIME, Asia Pacific's dominant Video-on-Demand service, has formed an alliance with publisher Fairfax Media's Fairfax Digital to launch ANYTIME on VOLT in Australia and New Zealand, offering more than 300 movies sourced from Sony, Universal and Warner Bros., and indies Icon and Becker.
Launching in Australia today, the VoD service offers movies priced at A$5.95 for a new release and A$3.50 for a catalogue title. Movie files will be downloaded to the users' PC for a 7-day period after which the file will be automatically erased.
Australia's relatively slow broadband speeds mean that on a typical 1.5Mbps Internet connection, a 90-minute movie will take around 90 minutes to download.
ANYTIME also announced an exclusive promotional partnership with iiNet, Australia's third largest ISP, which is rolling out an ADSL2+ network, enabling iiNet customers to enjoy un-metered downloads from the ANYTIME on VOLT service.
The VoD service will also offer TV shows, music videos and premium games to consumers in Australia and New Zealand.
The ANYTIME-TV service will be rolled-out in other Asia Pacific markets this year, launch dates to be confirmed.
