Singaopore: Animax, the youth-skewed anime channel, has launched Animax Awards, a pan-Asia scriptwriting competition for budding and established writers. The concept was born in Japan, where the Animax Awards have been staged for the past five years.
The expanded Animax Awards competition is open to applicants from seven regions: Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, Philippines and South East Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand). Top entries from each region will enter the finals where the grand prize winner will have his or her entry developed into an original production by a Japanese animation studio, A-1 Pictures, and broadcast Asia-wide on Animax network. Finals will be judged by creative professionals from Japan including sci-fi and adventure writer Baku Yumemakura.
Entries can be in the form of a script, novel or comic format for a 30-minute short film; deadline is May 31. Visit www.animaxawards.com for more info on how to participate.
