Kuala Lumpur – Sea Providence or Re Lang Dao (Mandarin for Redang Island) is in production, a joint venture between China Central Television, Chinese production company Jingzhilu, and Malaysia's VL Film Productions.

The 24-episode Mandarin serial is centred on the December 26, 2004 tsunami, revolving around a group of tourists who find themselves caught in the disaster and how their lives change after that. The series is expected to launch in December. Directed by Liu Yan Cheng, the series features a largely Malaysian crew and cast; Pan Yueming plays male lead Sun Ke, a doctor on holiday with his estranged wife in Malaysia, with Liu Xi Yuan as the female protagonist, a nurse.
