Singapore- Hallmark Channel will showcase an Asian movie for the first time with Singapore-shot Cages. Acquired recently by Sparrowhawk International, Cages will debut on May 13 as the main highlight of Hallmark Channel’s Mother’s Day Specials. The movie is expected to reach over 21 million viewers in 20 Asian countries including Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and Thailand.
Shot in HD, Cages is about a single mother who has to cope with reuniting with her estranged father and taking care of her visually impaired son. Singaporean actress Tan Kheng Hua, the late Japanese-American actor Makoto Iwamatsu, Zelda Rubinstein and Asrani star in the movie. Visually impaired Singaporean Dickson Tan also makes his acting debut in Cages and was responsible for its script. The movie also features enhanced sound effects to cater to the visually impaired.
Part of the official selection of the Pusan International Film Festival 2005, Cages was written and directed by American Graham Streeter and cinematographed by Mark Lapwood.
