Sydney- BBC Worldwide’s Sydney office concluded a major deal with ABC TV, covering a broad range of drama, entertainment and factual content. The package includes Jam and Jerusalem, (6 x 50′), a comedy drama starring Jennifer Saunders as a nurse whose GP husband dies suddenly, forcing her to give up her job and adapt to village life as an unemployed widow. A co-production with BBC America, the series also stars Dawn French, Joanna Lumley and Sally Phillips. Little Britain Abroad, two 30′ specials, has Lou and Andy stranded on a desert island, Vicky Pollard in a Thai jail, and Daffyd trying to out-gay the gays in the Greek Islands. Guest stars include Dawn French, Ronnie Corbett and Nighty Night’s Julia Davis. Jane Eyre (4 x 50′), adapted from Charlotte Bronte’s classic, pulled in nearly 7 million viewers when it aired in the UK. It features newcomer Ruth Wilson, Toby Stephens, Francesca Annis and Tara Fitzgerald. Simon Schama’s The Power of Art (8 x 50′) examines eight works of art and explores the history of visual imagination through the ages.
