Cannes- The best works of filmmakers across 70 nations in Asia Pacific will reach new international audiences following a cultural initiative involving CNN International, UNESCO and the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF). Films will be acclaimed in two programmes to be screened globally on CNN International from October 2007. The programmes will be linked to the Asia Pacific Screen Awards, a recently announced initiative by UNESCO to promote and preserve cultural diversity and cinematic excellence. The inaugural Awards will be held on the Gold Coast, Australia, on November 13, 2007, with CNN International screening the first programme, Scene By Scene – Films of Asia Pacific, an hour-long report on the region’s film industry prior to the event. The second programme, Scene By Scene – Best Films of Asia Pacific, will be shown after the Awards to feature highlights of the event including interviews with nominees, winners and the international jury. The programmes will be produced by the Asia Pacific Screen Awards in association with CNN International.
