The Asia Pacific will continue to rank as the world’s fastest-growing region in media and entertainment during the next five years, fuelled by economic growth and double digit increases in Internet, TV distribution, casino and other regulated gaming and video games. Media and entertainment spending in APAC is predicted to grow by an average of 9.6% per annum, surging from US$297 billion in 2006 to $470 billion in 2011, according toPricewaterhouseCoopers Global Entertainment and Media Outlook 2007-2011. India will be the pace-setter over the next five years, with an 18.5% compound annual growth rate (CAGR), followed by China with 16.8%. Asia Pacific will also be the fastest-growing convergent platform region with a projected 13.5% increase, and spending on distribution of TV programming on mobile phones in the region is expected to reach $6.5 billion in 2011 from just $26 million last year.
