Sydney- Network Ten and belong (formerly Legion Interactive and See) are partnering on a mobile phone interactive offering which enables consumers to interact with sponsor billboards and commercial spots via their mobile phones. Viewers can text a key word to a short code embedded in a standard television commercial in order to, for example, receive a brochure, enter a competition, book a test drive or receive a product sample. Peter Birch, Ten’s head of sales for Digital Media said: “This is another step for Ten Digital and will allow advertisers’ spots and sponsorships to be fully interactive.” Birch tells Television Asia he is signing deals with a major FMCG company, a finance company, a car company and a retailer. Clients are being charged A$5,000-12,000 (US$4,200-10,160) for a monthly package, which also gives them 10,000 free messages. Ten’s CEO Neil Blackley says the broadcaster showed more than 1.5 million on-demand video streams across more than 15 program web sites in May, including Big Brother, The Biggest Loser and Rove. Also, each episode of Supernatural has been available to download from midnight of the day of broadcast.
