Ho Chi Minh / Singapore- Disney Channel has secured carriage on Vietnam Cable Television Service Technique Centre (VCTV) and Saigon Tourist Cable Television Company (SCTV) to reach 75% of all pay-TV households in Vietnam. The Disney Company entered the Vietnam market with the launch of Disney Channel and Playhouse Disney in 2005 and has seen the former increase its Vietnamese sub-titling from 10% to 70% of its programming. VCTV provides cable service in Hanoi and DTH service nationwide and is an affiliate of terrestrial broadcaster Vietnam Television (VTV). SCTV is a joint venture between travel chain Saigon Tourist Holding Company and VTV covering Ho Chi Minh City. Also, Disney-ABC Television International (Asia Pacific) licensed series Desperate Housewives, Lost, Ghost Whisperer, Criminal Minds and Alias to air for the first time on terrestrial TV in Vietnam, as well as the first Disney animated series block, Toon Disney, on free-to-air. It also licensed Jetix branded animation blocks to Vietnam Television Channel 3 (VTV3) and films including Pearl Harbor, Sea Biscuit and Runaway Bride.
