London- NBC Universal (NBCU) has appointed Raymund Miranda as Managing Director, Asia, Global Networks, effective from November 1, 2007. Based in Singapore, Miranda will be responsible for launching commercial operations for Global Networks in Asia and building NBCU’s channels relationships in that region. His appointment is part of the previously announced international channel expansion strategy. The proposed acquisition of Sparrowhawk Media provides NBCU with an established channel operation in Asia and a team of local executives. Upon closure of the acquisition, the organizational structure for the combined group will be “carefully assessed” in collaboration with leadership, management and employees from both Sparrowhawk and NBCU to shape the operation. Miranda was formerly President and CEO of the Nation Broadcasting Corporation and Managing Director, Mobile TV for 360media Corp based in Manila, Philippines where he managed execution and deployment of DVB-H. He also served as Head of Content & Strategy with MediaQuest Holdings Inc,
