Judging from the RM714 million ($US203.6 million) worth of deals closed at three major markets alone, Malaysiaproduced content is proving increasingly popular. This total includes RM93 million ($US26.5 million) at Hong Kong Filmart, RM236 million ($US67.3 million) at MIPTV and RM385 million ($US109.8 million) worth of deals closed at the recently concluded Multimedia Development Corporation’s (MDeC) Buyer Fly- In Program (BFP). While the quality of content and services offered by Malaysian companies is fast reaching international standards, the upswing in global demand for Malaysian work can also be attributed to MDeC’s increasing investments and the government body’s proactive role in promoting Malaysian companies to the global market. 2007 has seen animation content and services leading the way among Malaysian exports with outsourcing, co-production and distribution deals for 2D and 3D animated content signed with global partners.
