Hong Kong / Bangkok – STAR, TrueVisions and GMM Media have formed a three-party joint venture in CHANNEL [V] Thailand, a music and youth entertainment channel targeting the Thai youth market. STAR will hold a 49% stake, Thai pay-TV operator TrueVisions and Thai-based multi-media group GMM Media hold 26% and 25% respectively. The new partnership follows the channel’s previous partner, Live Incorporation Public Company, which divested its share in the channel. Hosted by a team of popular VJs, CHANNEL [V] Thailand offers the latest Thai music videos, interviews with local and international artists, youth lifestyle and entertainment shows with signature programs including I am Siam, [V] Flava, Siam Top 40 and Hei-Beat. The channel also organizes programming initiatives including The VJ Search Project, The Extreme Street Challenge, on Campus, The Music [V] DO Contest for Amateurs, as well as The CHANNEL [V] Thailand Music Video Awards, which is a highlight of the Thai music industry yearly.
