Nonthaburi, Thailand – IPSTAR Australia Pty Ltd (IPA), a wholly owned subsidiary of Thailand’s Shin Satellite plc. has entered into a 12-year agreement to have ETT Ltd serve as the exclusive National Service Operator (NSO) for IPSTAR broadband satellite services in Australia. This NSO contract sees ETT provide IPSTAR Australia with minimum revenue commitment of $A665 million over the contract period. The commitment comprises 131,500 IPSTAR User terminals and 3.5 Gbps of IPSTAR capacity. ETT will be responsible for the wholesale supply of IPSTAR products and services to existing and new service providers, effective Jan. 1, 2008. ETT’s retail arm will service IPSTAR service providers after it takes over the distribution responsibility from IPSTAR Australia. Also, ETT will promote the IPSTAR brand while IPSTAR Australia will be responsible for operation and growth of the IPSTAR platform. ETT Chairman Larry Shutes said “We will supply satellite broadband to consumer and corporate customers across Australia with a particular focus on the more than 1 million regional Australians who have limited or no landline broadband access.”
