Singapore – Upside Down Entertainment (UDE) and US-based financing partner Cinema Solutions, Inc. are offering up to 80% financing for productions by Asian filmmakers. The partners have also closed a US$10 million deal to fund two feature films to be produced by UDE for the international market. Both were announced at the Media Financing Forum, an event of AMF 2007 in Singapore. UDE is a creative and financial partnership between Singapore’s production house Upside Down Concepts and US-based Quixotic Media Group which brings Western finance models to international projects from Asia. Through this funding initiative which is already available, UDE aims to bring mature Western structure, development and financing models to Asian producers. Speaking to Television Asia, UDE’s Executive Producer Chan Gin Kai revealed that beyond its partnership with Cinema Solutions, the company has ties with other financiers within and outside the US which are interested in funding Asian productions. He also noted that UDE is negotiating co-financing and co-production alliances with various producers and studios in Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, Korea, and Australia. UDE’s Cinema Solutions-funded films are romantic comedy Accidental Love, and adventure thriller Sky Pirate. Both English language features will be filmed starting 2008, primarily on Singapore locations, featuring Asian and Western stars.
