Shanghai – Sichuan Satellite TV has premiered reality series China’s Next Top Model (CNTM) nationwide on Jan 13, the Chinese version of US reality talent search show America’s Next Top Model. Produced in-house by Sichuan Satellite TV, CNTM is the 14th international adaptation of the show and is backed by CBS Paramount, China eWorld Interactive Co. and Sichuan TV. Airing at 10.30pm over 10 weeks, the hour-long show features the contest where judges select prospective models from a group of contestants over several weeks. It series also follows the stories behind each of the ten contestants, focusing on their efforts to overcome challenges. The airtime of CNTM falls outside of the ban recently implemented by China’s media regulator, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT), on “vulgar” reality shows from broadcast during primetime between 7.30pm to 10.30pm.
