BBC Worldwide has named three new appointments in India to its South Asian Global Channels business operations. Jasdeep Pannu is named as director of programming, Shaalu Wadhwa as director of marketing & communications and Abhijeet Deolekar is appointed as creative director. Having joined the Mumbai team in January, Pannu is responsible for all aspects of programming and scheduling for the channels in South Asia and. Pannu was head of programming for Discovery Channel and Animal Planet where he was responsible for programming strategies, acquisition, development of Discovery Channel’s India productions, and supervision of promotional campaigns. Wadhwa will implement marketing and communications strategies for BBC Worldwide’s new channels in India. Wadhwa was formerly marketing director with Nickelodeon India, a subsidiary of MTV Networks, and was involved in the brand’s re-launch and development of architecture for its positioning. Abhijeet Deolekar will build on-air strategies and branding for the new BBC-branded channels in India. Abhijeet was previously a member of the on-air promotions team at glamour and lifestyle television channel, Zoom.
