New Delhi – INX Media’s English news channel NewsX has started broadcasting on March 27, 2008 on a soft launch. The Indrani Mukerjea-headed company is looking to allow NewsX’s audio and video signals to be received and tuned by operators to help the channel gain carriage on the most number of services possible. Vynesley Fernandes, chief operating officer of NewsX confirmed that the channel’s on screen ‘test signals’ band had been removed and has commenced airing audio and video proper. Cable subscribers are expected to be able to access NewsX’s programming upon the completion of seeding through cable operators. Mukerjea, founder and CEO of INX Media expects NewsX to be available across most of India within one week of the soft launch. As a contemporary English-language news channel, NewsX promises to offer “news of depth and stature, presented with style”, and adds to INX Media’s 9X and 9XM channels which offer Hindi general entertainment and Hindi music respectively. 9X and 9XM were launched November 12 and October 20, 2007.
