Cannes – BBC Worldwide has concluded international sales for Australian indie Freehand’s new factual series, Outback Wildlife Rescue. The 13 x 30’ series debuted internationally in February 2008 and was licensed to Thailand’s free-to-air Channel 9, Hong Kong’s TVB, UKTV in UK and Eire, as well as Greek network Eidiseis. Outback Wildlife Rescue was commissioned by Australia’s Seven Network and has also been sold to New Zealand’s TVNZ. The series was filmed in Australia’s Northern Territory to feature Wildlife Rescue Darwin, a non-profit organization rehabilitating sick, injured and orphaned animals before releasing them back into the wild. BBC Worldwide took a 25% stake in Freehand in 2007, as a step in its strategy to become an international content producer in Australia.
