Singapore – National Geographic Channel Asia (NGCA) and Samsung Asia have jointly launched a new integrated marketing campaign to promote HD in Southeast Asia and Oceania, to coincide with Samsung’s roll out of its Series 6 flagship HDTV sets. Building on the partners’ ‘Redefining the Beauty of the World’ campaign in 2007, the new campaign starting from April 2008 will see Samsung present five HD documentaries to be aired on National Geographic Channel and National Geographic Channel HD. These include the premiere of Living with Big Cats hosted by Dereck and Beverly Joubert, and Dangerous Encounters presented by crocodile expert Dr Brady Barr, as well as Guardians of Nature, China Circus and Megastructures China. A series of six vignettes will also be produced and aired. The campaign will also include Virtual-Safari, a themed on-ground roadshow that will feature Dereck and Beverly Joubert who will tour Singapore and Malaysia in May 2008, as well as Dr Brady Barr who will tour Australia in June. In addition, the Virtual-Safari interactive website at www.ngcasia.com/samsung is offering an online contest with the grand prize of 32-inch Samsung HDTV set. The previous marketing campaign launched by the partners won the ‘Best Integrated Campaign in the Pay TV’ category at the CASBAA TV Advertising Awards 2007, presented in last November.
