Hong Kong – Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) and Sony Ericsson have launched the world’s first movie-inspired motion-sensing mobile game in conjunction with actor-director Stephen Chow’s latest effects-heavy drama-comedy CJ7. Featuring the alien pet from CJ7 as well as cartoon versions of the characters played by Stephen Chow and Xu Jiao, the mobile game translates motion into action on mobile screens without using the keypad on the handset. Players take on the role of caretaker for the creature by seeing to its daily needs and embarking on adventures with it. In addition to the mobile game, SPTI also created wallpapers, ringtones, video ringers and video clips based-on and from the movie. The entire CJ7 mobile content pack will be pre-loaded on Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot mobile handsets K850i, K810i, K770i, and K550i in Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. Rosemary Tan, director, mobile entertainment, Asia, SPTI, said, “Mobile phones have undergone an evolutionary shift to become a multimedia entertainment platform. The high penetration rate of mobile phones in Asia presents us with a growing market for our branded movie and TV-based mobile content.” CJ7 follows lessons of family values and happiness in poverty as an alien creature enters the lives of a poor labourer and his young son played by Chow and Xu respectively. CJ7 is the fifth feature directed by Chow and his second collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment since Kung Fu Hustle.
