Singapore/Hong Kong – MTV Networks Asia has signed a mobile licensing deal with Cambodia Advance Communications Co. Ltd (CADCOMMS) to provide MTV and Nickelodeon content on 3G to mobile subscribers in Cambodia from March 15, 2008. The partnership represents MTV Networks Asia’s first foray into providing mobile content in Cambodia. Marketed under the brand ‘qb’, video content will be provided to mobile subscribers in 3G mobile TV and video-on-demand formats. CADCOMMS is the first telco to provide a 3G network in the country. MTV and Nickelodeon fare are being provided as short video clips or on a loop service to 3G service mobile subscribers. Content includes MTV’s Pimp my Ride and Room 401, as well as Nickelodeon’s animation SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer. A concert titled ‘gb goes LIVE’ featuring Stacie Orrico and local artists was held at the Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh on March 15 to celebrate the service’s launch and to announce the CADCOMM-MTV Asia partnership to the 50,000 people in attendance.
