Singapore – BBC World, BBC’s commercially funded, international 24-hour news and information channel has been renamed BBC World News. The change follows audience research which revealed BBC World News to be more effective in conveying the channel’s content, which focuses on news and programming. Sian Kevill, editorial director of BBC World News, said, “Over the past five years, we have invested in extending our news coverage, with output now ranging from breaking news through to stories spanning areas from business to sport and science to entertainment. The new name reflects far better what the channel offers”. The name change is accompanied by a refreshed channel logo and on-air graphics, corresponding with branding across the UK and international BBC News portfolio for a common identity and clarity. The programming mix on BBC World News remains the same, including up-to the minute international news, and broadcast programmes such as Click and HARDtalk, as well as weekend documentaries.
