Hong Kong – Action and adventure channel AXN will premiere new post apocalyptic world 2.5D animated series, Afterworld, on May 19, 2008, and will complement the TV series with online and mobile initiatives. The series will also air on Animax channel from July 7. Afterworld follows the protagonist’s journey to find his family in the aftermath of a global catastrophe where electronic technology has suddenly been rendered useless. A dedicated website has been created to offer information on the show’s characters and current events in the series at www.axn-asia.com/afterworld, with features such as an ‘Interactive Map’ that reveals the characters’ currently location, and a ‘Journal’ function chronicling the protagonist’s daily activities and whereabouts. Online and mobile downloads are available, as well as a ‘Word Wall’ feature for community discussion on the series, with the best comments to be published on the Afterworld ‘Wordwall’ page. In addition, the first 10 episodes of Afterworld will be available online from May 20, 2008, with subsequent episodes to be made available on the Afterworld site a month after broadcast on AXN. For mobile, a dedicated mobile buzzsite has been set up to provide new episodes and exclusive downloads, with the service available to customers with Hong Kong’s SmarTone Vodafone, India’s Hungama Mobile and the Philippines’ Globe. The first 10 of the 130-episode series are available free of charge, with subsequent episodes available as pay content.
