Hong Kong – Asia Broadcast Satellite (ABS) has announced the appointment of Arlene Kahng as general counsel. She assumes responsibility for all legal matters associated with developing and operating satellite-based businesses. Prior to joining ABS, Kahng was associate general counsel with Intelsat Corporation and for PanAmSat since 1997. During her tenure at PamAmSat, she was responsible for the company’s legal affairs from negotiation and management of the company’s customer contracts with major media and entertainment companies to compliance with communications laws. Kahng also served nine years as an assistant legal counsel at Hughes Communications, Inc., where she was involved with helping the company through a number of strategic transactions. She earned her BA at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and JD degree at Northwestern University.
