Singapore – BBC Global Channels’ senior vice president strategy and business development Anne Howarth has been seconded to the Asia team. Described by one source as only a temporary secondment, the relocation of Howarth’s family to Singapore from the UK implies a longer stay for the senior executive. A BBC Global Channels spokesperson said, “Due to the faster than anticipated growth of our business in Asia, Anne has joined to develop market entry and investment strategies into local markets, which is the next stage of our growth.” Spokesperson adds that the secondment does not impact Asia MD Christine Leo-McKerrow who continues to manage the teams across the region, is responsible for the Asia businesses, and still reports to BBC Worldwide managing director Global Channels Darren Childs. Howarth was Childs’ first senior management appointment back in May 2006. She joined BBC Worldwide from the BBC where she played a leading role in the sale of BBC Broadcast Ltd, now known as Red Bee Ltd, to Macquarie Bank.
