Kuala Lumpur – Australian Prime Minister, the Honourable Kevin Rudd MP, and key Malaysian government ministers witnessed an agreement between Astro Malaysia and Australia’s international television channel, Australia Network, for the broadcast of the service on a 24-hour basis across the country. Australia Network chief executive Bruce Dover commented, “Malaysia represents a significant market for Australia Network. With a strong affinity for Australia in Malaysia, we believe that the agreement to broadcast Australia Network 24 hours on the Astro platform will strengthen people-to-people relations with Malaysia.” Malaysia is one of the biggest cable and satellite markets in the region with 2.3 million Astro subscribers and the importance of building cooperation between the two countries is reflected by the presence of the PM and top ABC executives at the event.
